The OR Society: ORS45 Conference, Keele University
Congratulations to Melinda Acutt of Yorkshire Water Services (YWS) who has won the 2003 President's Medal for the best practical application of OR. The work was performed by YWS, HMcM, ICS, NERA, Tynemarch and Accent/Cream teams in YWS's LEADA project.
The work built upon the analysis methods for asset risk assessment and serviceability to customers undertaken by Tynemarch for the 1999 Price Review.
The LEADA project determined a method to optimise Yorkshire Water Services' investment in their infrastructure.
The award was announced at The OR Society Autumn Conference held at Keele University. Entries were judged on four key criteria:
The level of demonstrable benefit,
The intellectual and novel content of the solution,
