A most enjoyable and successful MISER User Group meeting was held at the Euston Plaza Hotel, London, which has proved to be both a convenient and convivial venue.
Attendees included representatives from: Anglian, Cambridge, Environment Agency, Essex and Suffolk, South East, Severn Trent, Southern Water, Three Valleys Water, United Utilities, Veolia Water Partnership and Wessex, with apologies from Bristol. We welcomed our first overseas delegates from the Korea Water Resources Corporation.
The opening introductions by the delegates revealed current interests being evenly balanced between operational management and optimising strategic planning. These topics were broadly reflected in the topics covered during the day, which comprised:
five sessions describing MISER applications in different companies
a demonstration of the latest development for optimal planning
new functionality in the forthcoming release
an overview of development plans and options
Jeremy Lumbers (Tynemarch) started the day by briefly describing the influences on the original development of MISER that has now become established as a clear leader in the field.
Marcus Fowler (Tynemarch) then followed with a general overview of MISER and its current modules before introducing the presentations by users.
